Automotive Core Tools – APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC

Why do you need this service?

Automotive Core Tools training shows how APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC work together within one quality management system. Rather than five separate documents, participants learn the flow of information: from customer requirements and risk, through product and process approval, to reliable measurement and statistical monitoring of stability.

When is training worthwhile?

  • the organisation is preparing a new launch or product change,
  • quality documents are inconsistent with one another,
  • an automotive customer reports non-conformities or requires supplier development,
  • teams need a practical understanding of the relationships between the tools,
  • the company is preparing to meet IATF 16949 requirements or for a process audit.

We ground the programme in process practice and the ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 (in Polish) system. Participants therefore understand not just the forms, but above all the decisions intended to protect the customer and the process.

What is our role?

Before training, we assess process maturity and customer expectations. We select examples to suit the industry and participants’ roles, and use an actual or appropriately anonymised company case for the exercises.

Core Tools Training connects competencies in quality, engineering, production, logistics and purchasing. We help clarify responsibilities, relationships between documents and acceptance criteria. If required, we extend the training with a practical FMEA workshop or a VDA 6.3 process audit.

What does the organisation receive?

  • a shared language for the five Core Tools,
  • a map of APQP–PPAP–FMEA–MSA–SPC relationships,
  • practice in making decisions using a process example,
  • a list of gaps and implementation actions,
  • recommendations for standards and further team development.

Implementation support

We provide support based on the Kata process, which allows us to adapt our activities to the specifics of your organization, taking into account the jointly set goals. The Kata process consists of four key elements that enable effective implementation of assumptions.

Determining the course of action

Designing a concept that responds to the organization's goals and challenges.

Determining the current state

Learning about the current situation and collecting input data to define the next step.

Determining the target state

Determining the desired and measurable end result and a plan for its implementation.

Experiments - consultations

Implementation of activities in accordance with the established cooperation model, based on PDCA cycles.

We operate according to PDCA

PLAN

PLAN — requirements and maturity assessment

We agree the product or process scope, customer requirements, participants’ roles and expected business outcomes. We examine current documentation practices, the flow of changes and the most frequent quality problems. We define KPIs for training and implementation.

  • a map of the product and process development process,
  • review of existing forms and standards,
  • identification of competency gaps,
  • selection of a workshop case,
  • objectives and outcome assessment criteria.

D

DO

DO — five tools within one process

We deliver an interactive workshop. APQP structures the plan, PPAP supplies approval evidence, FMEA focuses attention on risk, MSA confirms measurement reliability and SPC helps explain process variation and stability.

  • working with APQP requirements and milestones,
  • PPAP logic and submission levels,
  • risk analysis in PFMEA or DFMEA,
  • fundamentals of MSA measurement system assessment,
  • selection and interpretation of SPC charts,
  • linking FMEA with the Control Plan and the response to deviations.

C

CHECK

CHECK — application and consistency

We verify whether participants can apply the tools and transfer information between documents. We examine a sample path connecting a requirement, risk, special characteristic, measurement and process control.

  • practical tasks and discussion of decisions,
  • checks of documentation consistency,
  • assessment of understanding of risk and variation,
  • review of KPIs and process gaps,
  • post-workshop recommendations.

A

ACT

ACT — standard and system development

We translate the results into an action plan. We organise templates, responsibilities and how documentation is updated after changes. We can support a pilot, team coaching and rollout of the standard to further projects and suppliers.

  • a plan for closing the most important gaps,
  • a collaboration standard for the cross-functional team,
  • rules for managing documentation changes,
  • development of internal trainers or experts,
  • periodic assessment of system effectiveness.
